SHZEN Hand Cream is a miracle cure

Don’t quote me on the title, but the SH’Zen product “The Refining Balm for hands” worked like a miracle cure for me.

I’ve written this post in case there are any husbands out there complaining about their wives spending too much money on Sh’Zen products. You’ll read how I definitely didn’t like the SH’Zen idea, to really liking one of their products. It’s long, so if you want, you can just skipt to the section titled “the hand cream works” near the bottom.

A little background on the issue

I’ve spent the last 3 weeks travelling all over the U.S. with my wife and our friends.

I’m not sure if it was all the travelling in planes, the lack of proper sleep, the amount of alcohol consumed (for a typical “non-drinker”), but whatever the cause, my hands started to peal REALLY badly.

It doesn’t sound too appealing (pardon the pun), but it looked like I was shedding my skin like a snake.

Enter my wife’s plea for me to try the SH’Zen hand cream.

First, a little background of why I hadn’t used it before:

SH’Zen and Amway seem similar!

SH’Zen is sold in a similar fashion to Amway products. If you haven’t heard of Amway, that’s a good thing, but chances are you’ve been approached by someone who wants you to “join their winning team of sales people and make MILLIONS selling a great product“. For those who don’t know, Amway is sold using a pyramid scheme where you sell to somebody, who sells to somebody else, who sells to somebody else, etc., and the more people underneath you, the more profit you make.

BUT, it’s really hard (in my opinion) to make a lot of money unless:

1 – You get into the game early and have lots of people who you sell to

2 – You have killer selling skills and absolutely no problem with rejection from people like me who are sick of hearing about how much money you can make.

Why is SH’Zen different to Amway?

I guess for me the reason SH’Zen is different is due to how it was first “sold” to my wife.

She attended a baby shower and the hostess had organised a SH’Zen party where a representative came round and showed the ladies how to give themselves manicures and pedicures. There was no pressure to buy the product (though obviously people tend to from some sort of guilt), but best of all, NOBODY was encouraged to SELL the product or to become a salesperson and make MILLIONS!!!

Ok, here’s the part where I laugh often enough. My wife absolutely SWEARS by SH’Zen. I tease her about it because I don’t really believe that you can get rid of cellulite using a cream (or whatever it is she uses), but she reckons it works (and I guess maybe it DOES contribute to the lack of cellulite, but don’t tell anybody I said that).

She also loves all the creams and lotions and bath salts, etc… She loves them so much that she was trying to sneak them in her bag for our trip overseas. But obviously, due to weight limitations (and the friendliness of the American airport security staff), I convinced her it was overkill. So she just took a few creams and her SH’Zen cellulite sponge.

My Brother loves SH’Zen

Ok, now for something that made me laugh quite a bit. My brother’s not a softy by any means, but when my mother bought him some cream of some sort from SH’Zen, she had turned him into a convert as well. And I mock him for it. Especially the way he raves about it (almost going as far as to say “because I’m worth it“, but not quite).

The hand cream works

So, I tried the SH’Zen “Refining Balm for hands” that my wife had, and went to bed.

I swear on my life, my hands were “cured” the next day. It seriously amazed me. It still does, I guess, because there’s no way for me to understand how it worked so quickly.

But it did, and now my wife will have to purchase extra tubes of the hand cream for me. I can’t say that I’m that much of a fan for the smell of the cream, but I guess it’s not perfumed as much as others, which is cool. It just smells like cream.

The products aren’t really cheap (though maybe from a female’s perspective they are), but at least I know the hand cream works.

Just don’t expect me to start using the Cellulite Cream and sponge any time soon!

Bathroom Accessories – Your Bathroom, Your Haven

In this article I will give you ideas for accessories for your bathroom using examples from my bathroom. Of course, you can leave some ideas in the comments below, especially if you’ve done something that you think is worth sharing.

On one of the corners of my bath, I have placed a little concrete pot that used to contain a plant. In this pot I have the candle lighter and a few of the small bathroom accessories. It’s just somewhere for you to keep the little necessities that otherwise could end up lying all over the place.

A funky laundry basket is a necessity, as your bathroom will always look neat. Don’t try to hide it, make it an accessory. I have a large wicker basket with a lid which is lined with a cream material. This material folds of the lip of the basket and contains the word “laundry” embroidered on it.

Plants in your bathroom can be a great idea, but be careful what plants you choose. A good plant would probably be a cactus of some sorts. But, many plants won’t survive the steam or heat of your bath/shower. After having a few plants that didn’t make it in my bathroom, I decided to place a tall, empty vase on the window sill. It is a great feature on it’s own.

Because my bathroom is decorated in different shades of earth tones, I have placed a wooden box next to the vase on the window sill. I use this box to hold accessories for my hair. Next to this I have placed a range of spa products. The jars are glass with earth tone colors. They look great on display, and this means that I didn’t have to hide them in the cupboard.

Remember, sometimes, hiding in plain sight can be good…

Bathroom Scents – Your Bathroom, Your Haven

Your personal bathroom should be that place where you enjoy getting ready, relaxing and unwinding. It’s the small, personal touches that can make your bathroom your haven. This is the first of 2 articles on making your bathroom your haven, with this article focusing on adding scents to your bathroom…

If you enjoy bathing, as I do, then you need to make the area around your bath magical. I have put scented lemongrass crystals in a tiny porcelain bowl on the one corner of my bath. If the scent of the crystals wears out before you finish using them, then you can sprinkle lemongrass oil over the crystals. You’ll be amazed at the great, fresh scent in the bathroom.

I have also made use of 2 wrought-iron candle-stick holders in 2 opposite corners of the bath. It is a lot more relaxing to bath with the lights off and the candles lit, and if you use scented candles, possibly with the same scent as the crystals, it really can add to the ambience.

Scents can really help you relax while you are unwinding in the bath, and I hope this has given you ideas on how to use them in your bathroom…

Bathroom Hand Towels – An Idea

Ok, this idea is definitely NOT for everybody. I saw it in the toilets of a Coffee Shop in an Art Gallery. Of course, artists tend to be arty, and this was arty to the max. Am I judging artist’s by their art, like books by there cover? I apologise for stereotyping. Not all art is art. (Ok, enough of the word “art”).

What this Gallery had done was to loosely nail an empty picture frame to the wall, and hang the hand-towel through this. I thought this was quite clever, and for a split second thought of adding this touch to my bathroom. But then I remembered that this would not go with ANY style in the house, and thought better of it.

If you have a lot of art, with decorative picture frames, you could think of doing this. Like I said, I really liked the idea, but it’s definitely not for everyone.

Interior decorating – Tip 2

Here’s another Interior Decorating tip. When I say another, that’s because you could count this article about Creating a Focal Point tip #1.

Color code a room. This will give a room it’s own identity. An easy example would be to decorate a bathroom in a specific color scheme. You could even make the color part of the focal point of the room. Or, at least, help highlight the focal point of the room. And, of course, this is all very nice and easy if you’re already planning on remodelling your bathroom, or any other room in the house…

Here are a few ideas on what items you could color coordinate the bathroom with:

Towels – easily found in a variety of colors
Soap -once again, you should be able to find soap in different colors
Pot plants – Either the plant itself, or the pot can be in the color scheme
Decorations, like bathroom candles, etc…
Sponges
Shampoo bottles – Hopefully the shampoo you use comes in the right color bottle
Bathroom curtains – another “easy” one
Bathroom mats.
And, if you’re REALLY planning on going big, match your tiles to your new color scheme. Although this COULD get a tad expensive…

I fully recommend looking at some catalogs or online photos to see what’s out there before you decide to change your color scheme. Browsing the internet for ads for bathroom appareil is a good place to start, if you don’t feel like browsing through quite a few shops. But, of course, once you have an idea, go see what’s in the shops in your area.
